highly qualified nurses provide such care as T.P.N., L.V.
therapy, catheter insertion and care, decubitis care, evaluation
of health changes, Levine tube insertion and care, tracheostomy
care and many other skilled services. They also work with
the patient and family, teaching means of self-care.
Home
Health Aides
Home
health aides will assist with all the personal hygiene, assist
in ambulation/walking, assist with self-administered medication,
assist with meal preparation, monitor vital signs and report
significant findings to the nurses. At Independent Home Health
Care, our aides visit on an intermittent basis, based on orders
from the physician.
Physical
Therapists
Physical
therapists assist in the treatment of mobility problems. They
assist patients in reaching their full rehabilitative potential
through individualized programs of exercise, teaching, and
assistance.
Occupational
Therapists
Occupational
therapists teach patients with physical handicaps how to manage
their environments. They help patients to be self sufficient
by teaching them to dress themselves, feed themselves, do
their own personal care, and use their appliances. In other
words, they teach them how to live in their environment and
to become more independent.
Speech
Pathologists
Speech
pathologists assist patients in regaining language skills,
impaired oral muscle function, speech intelligibility, and
understanding of spoken and written messages, and in use of
swallowing skills.
Medical
Social Workers
Medical
social workers are trained to facilitate the patient's and
family's adjustment to illness. The social worker can assist
in coordinating such resources as financial planning, transportation,
sitters, general information, and referral to the community
agencies that may be of help to the patient and family during
the illness. Independent Home Health Care has all these services
under one roof and is available to meet the home care needs
of patients requiring any and all of these services.
